On June 15, participating restaurants in Carol Stream, West Chicago and Winfield will donate 10% of their sales to the People's Resource Center's food pantries. Central DuPage Hospital will also match all money raised, which will be used to purchase nutrient-dense food for the 2,900 food pantry clients PRC helps each month.

Brain Science and the Biology of Belief

Pastor Greta McDonald will lead a discussion of Why God Won’t Go Away: Brain Science and the Biology of Belief, by Andrew Newberg and Eugene d'Aquili.

Please contribute for the blood drive being held at our church in Chapel Hall on Monday, June 13, 2011 from 3:00PM to7:00PM. The need is great for many people but especially for those who experience a severe accident or major surgery. The Health and Wellness Work Area has teamed up with the Heartland Blood Centers to serve you. All blood types are needed.

There will be an All Church Potluck Picnic on Sunday, June 12 immediately following the 10:00 Hymn Sing service. We will set up tents on the vacant lot next to the parking lot,and we will be cooking hot dogs and brats. Sign up in the Parlor beginning Sunday, May 22. We ask that each family bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share. We will try to be as earth-friendly as possible, so please bring your own plates and silverware.

S.O.S. means Share Our Skills, a chance for everyone, young, old and in between to help maintain our church building through various projects. There is no room in the church budget to pay for the labor to do them. It is up to us.

Our next workday is Saturday, June 11th at 8am. Breakfast is served. Please contact the church office to let them know you are coming.

June 8, 2011 is a guided tour at Willowbrook Wildlife Center. The 60 minutes tour begins at 10:30am. Following the tour the group will eat at Olive Garden on Butterfield Road (each participant will pay for their own meal). Please meet at the church parking lot sometime before 10am for car pooling. The car pool will leave the church at 10AM. The cost is $2.00 per person for the tour.

Come Sunday, June 5 to help us honor our new graduates. We will honor them at the 10am service.

The Missions Work Area has reserved 40 places on Saturday, June 4 at 9:00AM at Feed My Starving Children, in Aurora, IL.

On May 22 from 2-5pm, all youth in the Aurora District and their friends are invited to Youth Field Day at Downers Grove First United Methodist Church, 1032 Maple Ave., Downers Grove, IL, 60515.
