In October, four retired ministers share what they learned over the course of their ministry. The series continues with John Gilham, who is a retired Methodist minister and currently helps to lead small groups understand the Bible.

Still Missed is a support program for families experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death. They are hosting their 23rd Annual Memorial Service on October 12th, 2011. The service begins at 7:30 pm, there is a gathering and momento preparation time beginning at 7:00 pm.

In addition to a children's story, families are encouraged to participate with a personal story or poem.
All High School students with any interest in attending the 41st Annual Chapel Choir Tour to New York City MUST attend a mandatory informational meeting in the DGFUMC gym at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 12. This is an alternate date to the Sunday, October 9th meeting.
Young at Heart will be going to Morton Arboretum in Lisle, on Wednesday, October 12.
Costs: $5.00 entrance fee, $6.00 tram ride
Lunch is on your own.

This meeting is designed to inform both students and parents about the upcoming tour as well allow the Chapel Choir staff to get an idea of the numbers of students that will be involved. Due to the complexities of scheduling and planning a trip to New York City it is of the utmost importance that all students and or their parents attend this meeting and be prepared to make a commitment to regarding their involvement in the trip.

We will be having a food drive to support the People's Resource Center in Westmont on Sunday, October 9th. Please bring non-perishable items to the Tower Room on Sunday morning.
Donations to the food pantry are always needed and demand remains high. They are especially in need of peanut butter, jelly, rice, canned soup, canned pasta, cake mixes, dried pasta, baby food, diapers, and canned fruits. Enjoy the Fresh Air Saturday and Lend a Hand!
This Saturday, Oct. 8, is the regular Sharing Our Skills workday. Volunteers of ages are needed! We will have a light breakfast at 8:30 and then work on a number of projects from 9:00 until noon. The weather is going to be great, so most of the work will be outdoors, including yard work at the parsonage and trimming and weed eating around the retention ditches, vacant lot and playground. Bring your favorite rake and other yard tools.
