Children's Sabbath Service & Blessing of the Backpacks at Fishel Park

On Sunday, August 28, please join the United Methodist Women in celebrating children and youth all over the world with a special outdoor worship service at Fishel Park (weather permitting!). Children and youth from our congregation will be greeters, lay readers and ushers, and they will provide special music along with Osvaldo Vena and the Still a Dream Band.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Some seating will be provided.

Gym Painting Completed

A big Thank You to all who gave their time and energy to paint the gym. With all the effort, we completed the task in just four paint days! It looks great and is ready for another few years. Thank you for your donation of time to our church!

Fall 2016 Preschool Openings

The First United Methodist Preschool has had a few spots open up for fall in our morning 3’s class, which runs from 8:45 to 10:45 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We also have a few openings in our afternoon 3’s and 4’s classes.

Sonshine Youth Choir Summer Tour 2016

Join us Sunday, July 17 as we welcome the Sonshine Choir from Brentwood United Methodist Church in Tennessee as they lead us in worship with their 2016 Summer Tour program Nothing in All Creation Can Separate Us from God’s Love. The 80 voice choir, made up of youth from 10th - 12th grade, is making stops this summer in Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Tennessee. We hope to see you there!

A Word from Our Denomination

As United Methodist Christians, we mourn with the victims and families of those wounded and killed in the shootings on June 12, 2016 in Orlando, Florida. We may even pray and wonder if anything could have been done to avert this heinous act.

But should we do more? Is there anything that can be done to keep something similar from happening in the future?

While we may not agree on a solution, many of us agree there is a problem. What can we do?

S.O.S. - Share Our Skills Goes Green

This Saturday, June 11

8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The yard waste dumpster has arrived and so have the weeds! The Board of Trustees and the Environmental Stewardship work area invite you to help clean up the church grounds this Saturday morning for the June Share Our Skills (S.O.S.) event. Bring your favorite garden and lawn tools and join with other church members for a time of fellowship and outdoor work. 

Part-Time Preschool Teacher Needed

First United Methodist Preschool is looking for a part-time afternoon teacher in our 4 year old classroom. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, with extra time for classroom set-up once a month and an occasional evening and weekend event. Applicants must have 60 semester hours of college credit with 6 hours in early childhood. Salary based on experience.  

Together @ 10 Worship Service

Join us on Sunday, May 29 for a special service where the 9:30 and 11:00 services will be combined into ONE service at 10:00 a.m. This is a great time to make new friends, re-connect with old friends and bring guests to visit our church.

Please note the 8:15 a.m. service will still be held in the Chapel.
