RESCHEDULED - Church Parking Lot Resurfacing
Due to the rain, our parking lot resurfacing was rescheduled.
The project will now begin on Saturday, October 28. On this day, the asphalt will be removed and parking will not be allowed in the south lot. Parking will be allowed on Sunday, October 29, however, please note that the surface will be rough. Those who need assistance may park on the east side of the church and enter through the lower Chapel Hall entrance.
This fall the Adult Education work area would like your input to help with planning classes and groups for the coming year. We ask that you please complete the survey below and return it to the church office or place it in the offering plate on Sunday morning.
Please join us on Rally Day as we kick-off our new year of Sunday School and prepare to make a difference as a congregation in the coming season. At this time, we will return to our 8:15 a.m. worship service in the Chapel.
In response to Hurricane Irma, the Mission, Justice and Community (MJC) work area is issuing a new matching grant challenge to encourage continued support for the areas devastated by Hurricane Irma, particularly the U.S. Virgin Islands. MJC will again match donations up to $2,500 through the month of September in support of United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) relief efforts in devastated areas.
The PADS season this year will begin on September 19, 2017 and run through May 19, 2018. DGFUMC is responsbile for providing food and volunteers on the first Tuesday of each month beginning October 3. Volunteer duties are split in half for the year with the Loaves team responsible for October, December, February and April and the Fishes team for November, January, March and May.
We are very thankful that Nick Loos, a gifted musician and educator, has accepted the offer to serve as Chapel Choir Director starting this school year. You will soon see him directing the Choir at our 9:30 a.m. worship service.
On Sunday, August 27, please join the United Methodist Women in celebrating children and youth all over the world at the 10am Childrens Sabbath service. Children and youth from our congregation will be greeters, lay readers and ushers.
FUMPS Preschool is getting ready for the new school year. Classes start on Tuesday, September 5th. We still have some openings in our afternoon 3's class and a few in our afternoon 4's. Classes are held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:10 to 2:10 pm for the 3's and 12:10 to 2:40 pm for the 4's. We are a play-based preschool with themes that change weekly. We start with friends and colors for the 3's and apples and friends for the 4's.

This Back to School season DGFUMC is collecting school supplies to support local children in need to help ensure that they are prepared to learn on day one. All donations will go to Hope's Front Door who will distribute the supplies beginning August 7.
