On Sunday, October 25 join us for a special service where the 9:30 and 11:00 services will be combined into ONE service at 10:00 a.m. This is a great time to make new friends, re-connect with old friends and bring guests to visit our church.

This Sunday is also our Choir Dedication Sunday. Each choir (bells, too!) will be presenting special music for the congregation.

Food insecurity exists in our Northern Illinois neighborhood. A 2014 study shows the following for the 13 counties (Boone, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will & Winnebago) served by the Northern Illinois Food Bank:

You can help support the CROP Hunger Walk and Church World Service this Sunday, September 20 by dining at Panda Express at Downers Grove Market, 74 Ogden Ave. From 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. 20% of your purchase will be donated to CWS.

DGFUMC has returned to our three worship services schedule. Our 8:15 a.m service takes place in the Chapel while our 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. services are held in the Sanctuary.

This July we sent our fifth delegation to visit the women of UPAVIM, a women’s cooperative in La Esperanza, our hermanamiento in Guatemala City, with whom we have a nine-year relationship. UPAVIM is an organization that provides employment to over 80 women in one of the poorest communities in Guatemala City, making the beautiful crafts that you have seen on sale in the parlor.

Please join us on Rally Day! as we kick-off our new year of educational ministries and prepare to learn to walk with Christ daily in the coming season. At this time, we will return to our three worship service and Sunday school format.

Every person that attends church on Rally Day will receive a cool drawstring backpack with a special message printed on it!

This Thursday and Friday the west church parking lot will be closed for repairs. Limited parking will be available in the north lot.

Over the past 15 years, Hope’s Front Door (HFD) has provided emergency assistance to those in desperate need who include the unemployed, underemployed, homeless, seniors and disabled…more than 17,000 individuals and their families in Downers Grove and five neighboring villages.
