You are cordially invited to attend the Chapel Choir kick-off dinner and informational meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31 in the DGFUMC gym. Our FIRST REHEARSAL will follow from 7-8:15pm.

This annual event signals the start of another exciting year for Chapel Choir, highlighted by the 2017 Spring Break Tour to New Orleans.  Weekly rehearsals begin Wednesday, September 7 at 7:00 p.m.

On July 27, the Women’s Wednesday Morning Bible Study will begin discussion of their second book this summer, Love Wins: A Book About Heaven, Hell and the Fate of Every Person Who Ever Lived by Rob Bell. This thought-provoking book will provide the basis for a discussion around heaven and God’s love.

Onward Bound is our Confirmation Preparation program for 7-8th grade students at Downers Grove First United Methodist Church. It is a 2-year program and the Confirmands will go through different curricula for each grade. This program seeks to encourage, challenge, and affirm students in order to assist them in becoming full members of the church.

Onward Bound meets Wednesday evenings beginning with a dinner at 6:30PM, followed by class discussions and activities from 7-8:15PM.

You are invited to join us in community on Sunday, August 21, for a morning of sharing and learning about the current refugee crisis, including how it is shaping our community and how local churches and organizations can respond in ministry.

The final Wash and Worship youth car wash of summer 2016 will take place Sunday morning, August 21.

Are you looking for a new way to get involved at church?

S.O.S. - Share Our Skills will now be meeting on the THIRD Saturday of each month to tackle fix-it projects around the church. The group meets at 8:30 a.m. for coffee and then works from 9:00 to Noon.

Only have an hour that day? No problem, just stop in and stay as long as you can. Many hands make light work.

Bring a Snack and/or 2-Liter of Soda to Share!

ALSO: Bring sleeping bag/pillow and sleeping mat/air mattress as we will be going horizontal by 3am
