Finding energy efficiency improvements in your home has been shown to be the most cost-effective way to reduce our energy use and capture cost savings. At the same time, one will achieve improvement to the environment by reducing the pollution that is released when electricity is produced or fossil fuels burned. Energy costs have been and are projected to keep increasing. Jesus taught us to love your neighbor as yourself.
J.J. Mannschreck cannot be here today, Sunday, March 11, so the Praise Break Worship service and both the Junior and Senior High Youth Groups will not take place today.
Women are invited to take part in a Lenten Bible study beginning Thursday, March 8, at 10:00 AM. The study will reflect on the events during the last 24 hours of Jesus' life, and how they impact our lives and faith today. (A 10 minute video, Bible reading, and discussion will be included each week, and the sessions will end by 11:00.)
Pastor Greta and Karen Stahlecker will lead the study.
The Onward Bound leaders would like to invite people in the church to purchase a teen study Bible for an 8th grade student, to be presented to the student on Confirmation Sunday, April 29. The cost of each Bible will be about $20. If you are interested in providing a Bible for a student, that can help them continue to grow in the faith in the years ahead, please leave word for Pastor Greta in the church office.
On April 1, Katie Bartholomew will join our church staff as Youth Minister.
Katie grew up near Cleveland, Ohio graduating from Brecksville- Broadview Heights High School. She has a Bachelors Degree in liberal arts with a concentration in religion from Baldwin-Wallace College located in Berea, Ohio where she was an honor society member.
The Staff Parish Relations Committee is pleased to announce that Kathryn (Katie) Bartholomew has accepted the position of Youth Minister with our church. Katie is a native of Broadview Heights a “suburb” of Cleveland Ohio and a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in religion. Although Katie will not begin her position until April 1, we hope to introduce her to you during worship services on February 26. We will post more information soon.
A decade or so ago, our church offered a variety of small groups to bring together people of shared interests. People took walks, learned Spanish, made stained glass projects, explored photography . . . It was a wonderful way to meet people and to become more involved in the life of the church.
Thanks to the 137 people who came to the Mongolian Grill on Jan. 31st in support of the Chapel Choir. A total of $868 was raised between the $3 donation per plate from the restaurant and the generous tips left by patrons. Sincere appreciation is also expressed to our six guest grillers: Joette Conger, Chad Goetz, JJ Mannschreck, Bobbi Mielcarski, Rev. Jim McDonald, and Bruce Ritter.

As Christians, we are all charged with the responsibility to care for our planet. New alternate energy technologies have an important role in helping the nation become energy independent, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and, as fossil fuel energy costs increase, reduce residential energy costs.
As you know, the Environmental Stewardship Work Area is conducting a recycling fundraiser. Thus far we have raised about $85. We are simply asking you to protect the environment by donating your used cell phones and small consumer electronics. Your used items(s) may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations.
