Northern Illinois Conference Day of Prayer for General Conference

With the United Methodist Church set to hold its quadrennial General Conference in May, the Council of Bishops has called for a time of prayer in the months leading up to the meeting. The prayer vigil is a meaningful way to focus spiritually on the experience, as well as to surround the delegates and church leaders with prayer for a General Conference that inspires us in our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World.

Lenten Bible Study

You are invited to share in a Sunday evening Lenten study from 5:00-6:00 p.m. beginning February 21 and lasting through March 20. The study will use the resource The God We Can Know by United Methodist pastor Rob Fuquay to examine on the "I Am" sayings of Jesus in the Gospel of John. Each session will include brief scripture, a DVD glimpse into the Holy Land settings for Jesus' teaching, discussion, and a suggested spiritual practice.

30 Hour Famine

Help Save Kid’s Lives! Ignite Students (grades 6th-12th) go 30 Hours without eating in order to raise money for children malnourished and/or dying of hunger in Third World Countries. Students must raise at least $35 to participate in the 30 Hour Famine. That is just over $1 per hour of the fast and is the amount of money that will feed a child for a month. Students start the Famine on their own by stopping eating anything but juice and water on Friday, Feb. 26 at 7AM.
