Chapel Choir Start Up 2011

Our new Chapel Choir director, Chad Goetz, is ready to meet you! The church is ready to have the choir loft full again! Summer is over! Are you ready for Chapel Choir?

We are starting a little differently than we have in the past. There will be two rehearsals before the Kick-Off dinner and registration.

First Rehearsals

The first rehearsal is set for Wednesday, August 24 the second on August 31, both at 7:00 pm. All High School students are invited to come check us out.

The choir membership is ever changing, and we are looking for new voices. Few are soloists, but many lend their voice and dedicated participation. Want to join us? Attend the first rehearsal on Thursday, September 8 at 7:00 pm, and contact Diane Hires, our director, for more information.

Meet our new Chapel Choir Director

Chad GoetzWe are so very pleased and excited to announce the employment of our new Chapel Choir Director, Chad Goetz. He comes to us with amazing credentials and energy! Chad graduated from Millikin University in 2005 where he majored in Vocal Music Education and had the pleasure of singing in the internationally acclaimed Millikin University Choir. He hopes to complete his Masters Degree in Music Education from Vandercook College in July of 2012.

Chapel Choir Accompanist

Pianist needed to company Chapel Choir (high school age youth) for Wednesday night practices, weekly Sunday church services , Christmas Concert, and spring week-long tour. (Nine-month appointment)

Household Goods Needed

Sharing Connections Furniture Bank, a nonprofit organization in Downers Grove, provides furniture and household items to low-income families. They currently have a critical need for cleaning supplies and buckets in order to better serve needy families. Kitchenware such as glasses, cups and silverware are also needed. When you are holding your summer garage sales, please remember to donate your gently used kitchenware and household goods.

Ever Want to Try out Ringing?

We have room for a couple new members - coordinated, smart, fun, and dedicated people to ring with us during the2011-2012 season. We LOVE what we do and we think you will too!

  • Rehearsals are Sundays 5:00 to 7:00 or Wednesday 7:00 to 9:00, depending on the ringing ensemble.
  • Performance responsibilities include Sundays in worship, Chicago Symphony Family Christmas Concert, and our Christmas and Spring Concerts.

Letters and Prayer Sponsors Needed

UPAVIMYou can be in ministry with our Guatemalan mission delegates as they travel to Guatemala City July 6-14 to deepen our friendship with UPAVIM, our sister organization. How? By being a letter or prayer sponsor. To be a letter sponsor, simply write a note of encouragement that the delegates can open and read each day they are there. Notes need to be turned into the church office by July 3.

Vacation Bible School

RaccoonIn this kid-friendly café full of chef's hats and aprons, pots and pans, and checkered tablecloths, kids explore the Bible as a cookbook filled with recipes for living out God's word. Through interactive lessons, that are easy for kids to apply to their lives today, boys and girls will celebrate biblical festivals that reveal ingredients for being a follower of God.

All children going into kindergarten through 6th grade are welcome to register for Vacation Bible School (VBS). The program will be Tuesday, Aug 2-Thursday, Aug 4 from 9:00 – Noon each day. Each day will include fun activities with the Bible story, crafts, sports, snack, computer and science. Cost is $10 a child and $25 for families that have 3 or more children. Please register by July 31st!
