Come and hear about the work we collectively achieve through DuPage United, an organization that connects many faith-based communities (churches, synagogues, and mosques), at their Spring Assembly on March 10 at 3:00 p.m. In the past, these assemblies have been highly effective in obtaining commitments from our elected representatives to meaningful action. For example, the assembly in November, 2015 received a commitment from State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and a representative from then Sheriff Zaruba’s office to advance Crisis Intervention Training in DuPage County. The county CIT program started in October 2016 and has since trained over 700 officers. The more members that attend this assembly, the greater our influence will be in achieving future goals.
The Spring Assembly will cover:
- Celebrating the expansion and success of Crisis Intervention Team Training
- Moving forward on Crisis Stabilization Units
- Acting on Do Not Stand Idly By: a campaign to reduce gun violence
- Engaging our local officials to work with us
- Strengthening our leadership base
State’s Attorney Berlin and Sheriff James Mendrick have agreed to attend to discuss these issues.
